Get Your Spring On - How To Team Your Tee

Dreaming of Spring and a (hypothetical) Weekend Away

Boris has given us a roadmap, Storm Darcy has fled and the crocus and daffs are rewarding us with colour - there are signs of Spring everywhere. Yay!  Spring, of course, means the time for new wardrobe inspiration.  Especially after the last endless months.   Warmed by the sun streaming through my office window, I’ve found myself imaging what I would pack for a Spring City break. I can’t go of course, but the mental planning is making me happy.

In my mind, I’m munching my way around La Boqueria on Las Ramblas or foraging for the best open sandwich in Copenhagen’s Torvelallerne. (For me, there is no holiday without food.) There’s no harm in dreaming.

Here’s my checklist.  And I’m not doing carry-on.  If I’m going away… I’m taking a BIG BAG.

Weekend away checklist

3 or 4 Lemonpeel tees

1 casual jogger

1 smart trouser

I pair jeans

1 leather jacket

1 oversized blazer

1 cosy cardigan

1 lightweight coat

Trainers

Boots

1 big scarf

Vibe

I love the bouncy 'almost stripes' of our Vibe T-shirt with its ice-cream colours – they speak of excitement, energy and fun.  I’d twin it with a pair of smart joggers for comfort.  Plus, who needs fitted waistbands back yet/ever?  Hush-uk.com have a particularly joyous pair called Cetti with a striped ankle cuff and waistband that I think Vibe would be great with. Go for an all over navy look for knocked back appeal or turn up the volume with Vibe on white or grey.

Feeling a bit chilly? Lornaruby.com have a luscious blue mohair, wool mix American Vintage cardigan that would go well in case of a daytime breeze. Either T-shirt would be gorgeous with Zara's  pastel pink limited edition wool blend coat which I can guarantee you’d feel fabulous swishing about in.

Le Citron

The colour pop of this zesty tee is bang on trend. Yellow is one of the key colours for Spring Summer 2021 and this is an easy way to bring some into your wardrobe.   Personally, I find a lot of yellows tricky (plus they remind me of the terrible-on-everyone yellow of my old school shirt).  Having said that – the neon yellow of our Le Citron tee is just mouthwatering. Not a fan of yellow? Try Le Citron Vert or L’Orange instead.

For a fresh day-to-night look, pair with this Chanel-inspired emerald green, double-breasted blazer from Zara.

For an evening time statement, team your tee with Me and Em’s satin wide leg trouser in jewel green with a tux style blazer for the evening.

I’d add a pair of beyond-fabulous drop earrings or an outsized hoop.  I have an old pair of J Crew yellow earrings that would bring a touch of amazing.

Namaste

If I’m finally getting out and about to say ‘Hello, you gorgeous people!’ to the world, I’m going to use my T-shirt to maximum effect and say ‘Namaste – I’ve missed you!”  The Love More, Breathe and Namaste T-shirt colours were inspired by the beauty in different skin tones – I think they’re really fresh, modern and understated in a statement way.

For a super chic look, I’d pair this tee with black jeans, a leather jacket and a pair of great boots.  I’m exploring, so I want something I’ll forget I’m wearing.  No heels for me. The 1460 Pascal stompers from Dr Martens are the definition of comfortable, reasonably priced and I like the fact of Zebra embossed leather to add even more joy. As with all DMs, they will last as long as you do.  In this instance I think the traditional yellow DM stitching will pick out the colours of the T-shirt.

In case my (imaginary) weekend away is chilly, I shall take a big cashmere scarf to cuddle into. www.charli.com have to a particularly lovely selection of lightweight, luxury cashmere that come with a handy bag so you can keep your scarf snag-free in your bag.

I love my Vejas and wanted to show you these - the colour is so joyous but there’s a big BUT…. on these full leather Vejas, the tongue is very stiff and can cut into your ankle. I prefer to buy the V-10 mesh trainers because, although the tongue is still too long, it’s made of supple leather and you can simply trim it down to size. I usually cut a shaped 1½ inches off and BOOM - comfort and style.
